from drone with love

This post includes spoilers for AGENT STOKER Episode 406, so enter at your own risk!

One of the great pleasures of the Stokerverse is the ability to travel vicariously around the world. Honestly, this aspect of the show might make it hard to sell it to studios, who want to know that you’re offering a highly producible series that stays roughly in the same geographical radius. But signs of the apocalypse would have to pop up all over the globe, so a long time ago we decided to embrace the possibilities of audio drama and let our hero journey anywhere he needed to go.

Some of the destinations of this series are places that we already know and love, like the Boston waterfront we visited in Episode 402 and the New Haven campus we visited in Episode 403. Others are places we’ve never been but we’d love to tour someday, like downtown Havana in Episode 404 and the Trans-Siberian Railway in Episode 405.

But generally, we try not to revisit the same place. Once we’ve savored a location, it’s time to move on.

The logic of tracking down the Night Brigade, however, meant we had to come back to Rome for Episode 406. The disappearance of Agent Arkos could only be explained one way, now that we know Directors of the Night Brigade have lost their memories. If Arkos no longer had her memories, then the drones in her system would forget all their time with her —

And that meant they’d rely on their last memories before they teamed with Arkos — when they were following the instructions of Emil Goethe (last heard dying in Episode 207) to go find a new host in the Eternal City.

Bringing Emil back into our story meant we got to reconnect with Torben Liebrecht, the wonderful actor from ALTERED CARBON based in Berlin. And as we touch base with all the Directors of the Night Brigade this season, we’ll reunite with another Season Two voice next episode! Can’t wait!
