Sinister Chords

As I write this, we’ve begun recording Season Four of AGENT STOKER. And one of the most exciting parts of it is that we just had a great meeting with our composer, Christy Carew.
Christy’s an old friend of both our EP Brian Nelson and our sound designer Patrick Hogan, who both met her just as her composing career was starting to flourish. As a deep devotee of the work of John Williams, an NYU honors grad, and an alumna of the Sundance Institute Film Music Lab, Christy loves genre and loves illuminating a suspenseful story with music. You can learn more about her work at christycarew.com.
We asked her to compose both the main theme of the show, and a few interstitial themes that thread through the episodes. The request for the main theme was something that would have great opening notes like THE X-FILES, but would also have a kind of cybernetic thrill to it all as a nod to the Philip K. Dick influence in our show. Christy delivered big time. A lot of podcasts use found music or public domain music, but we’re proud that our show has had its own original score from the beginning. Before listeners heard anything else at all, they heard Christy’s enigmatic mysterious notes ushering them into the Stokerverse.
We’ve asked Christy to compose some additional short themes that will be laced through Season Four. While we won’t blow any spoilers here, it may tell you something about the future that the working names of the themes are “Search for Identity,” “Guilt and Atonement,” and “Orange Alert.”
Thank you, Christy! You’re one of the many secret weapons that makes AGENT STOKER the award-winning show it is!
